  • Where are we going? poses an open question, both literal and symbolic. What do we choose when we shop? What does our routine repeat? What does each choice reveal about our possibilities, our desires, our longings? The shopping basket becomes a mirror: of who we are, what we can do, what we need, or what we resign ourselves to carrying.

  • A market basket, overflowing with everyday objects, serves as a vehicle for memory. What at first glance appears to be an ordinary scene reveals itself, upon closer inspection, as an intimate inventory. Hidden among the goods are words, associations, memories. Everything in the basket nourishes not only the body but also one's personal history.

  • The basket seems to hold enough, and yet something slips through the net. Each item whispers promises, unfulfilled desires, suspended longings. We look, we select, we think this is all… but our instinct knows there's always something more to discover, something else we haven't bought yet.
